As students make their way past the second floor of the B Building and head toward the MAS Building, they pass one of Columbus’ most distinctive classrooms: the French classroom. Led by Ms. Vessiere, the French program is preparing to showcase its rich culture and strong presence on campus with the upcoming French Day Celebration.
What to Expect
The French Day Celebration promises to be a feast for the senses. Organized by the Columbus World Languages Department, the event will feature live music and a variety of authentic French pastries and foods. Students can indulge in popular treats like macarons and crepes, along with lesser-known food items such as pain au chocolate.
When and Where
Starting next week, the celebration will take place in Brother Eugene Plaza, nestled between the C and B Buildings, which was the same spot that hosted the annual Pi Day festivities. Stations will open at 7:15 AM, so students are encouraged to arrive early as treats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why It Matters
The event aims to highlight the prestige of the French program at Columbus while giving students a deeper appreciation of French culture. Through music, food, and tradition, the celebration seeks to promote cultural awareness and inspire students to explore the French language and its rich heritage.
With a blend of entertainment and flavor, French Day is set to offer a memorable experience that brings a little piece of France to Columbus.
