A camera can catch moments of a variety of different emotions: moments that invoke a sense of nostalgia, moments that can create a sense of fondness, like seeing a picture of a place you have never been to. Many people take the power of a camera for granted. Not Junior Sebastian Navarro, president of the brand new photography club at Columbus.

Getting to know the founder/president

Since he was a kid, Sebastian has had a passion for capturing those moments. It is only recently that he has been able to really develop his love for it, as he was able to buy his own camera in late January. After a week or two of taking pictures out of pure enjoyment, he came around to trying to turn his passion into profit by starting his own Instagram called “@navarro_visuals.”

Since he had even considered buying a camera, Sebastian knew he needed to do more than just take pictures.

“I’ve always had a passion for photography, but I recently just got my camera around three months ago and realized I wanted to share my passion with others and help them discover a sense of appreciation for what a picture holds,” he said.

Navarro wants to not only share the power of photography with his classmates but also with the community.

“The goal for the Photography Club is to be able to help students learn and explore more about the passion of photography, but also be able to connect to service and help those in need," he said.

Sebastian’s Message to those interested in the club and photography:

“The main thing is experience, that’s what has helped me the most, it’s not just watching youtube videos it’s going out there to shoot, asking friends for advice, and collaborating with others on ideas. All things this experience you can gain in my club.”
